Council’s Corner September 2019
2019 has been a busy summer. As we move into fall, here is a short update.
Town of Regina Beach meets with Sask Parks representatives three to four times annually to discuss issues, challenges and possible partnered projects. Topics include lake water level, beach and park maintenance status, shoreline survey, shoreline leases, path maintenance and repair, shoreline cleanup, dock installation/removal/repair and a host of others. The accessible sidewalk upgrade at the bottom of Centre St. is an example of a joint project.
Fire Status Signs
Five Fire Danger Level status signs have been constructed and installed by members of the Regina Beach Fire Department. They are located at Regina Beach intersections of Hwy 54 and 16th St. (Fire Hall corner), Hwy 54 and Centre St. (NW corner) and at the entrances to Buena Vista, Kinookimaw and Lumsden Beach. RBFD will adjust the signs to indicate the current danger level. Special thanks to Lincoln Dobson, Jeff Langford and Josh Senger for the use of their equipment and expertise.
Public Works has acquired a traffic counter which has been and will continue to be deployed at different locations throughout the town. The data is being gathered and evaluated to provide justification for implementation of traffic calming structures. A summary of this information should be available for presentation at the next Owners and Tenants meeting.
Council and staff continue the effort to compose legislation with respect to the deployment of mobile vendors on private commercial zoned property as well as a permit application process for these units. This legislation will be in place for the 2020 season.
