Regina Beach Mini Rugby had its first season in 2017 with 30 kids participating. We hope to continue to grow the program and we invite kids from surrounding communities to come join us this spring as well!
Unlike just about any other team sport, rugby is about all players having the same opportunity to run with the ball, pass the ball, and play defense. You need everyone to participate, and because of that, everyone gets to!
Mini Rugby is offered to children ages 3-13 and is designed to introduce the sport to children. It uses a smaller ball and pitch then standard rugby and has 8 – 10 players a side.
It is the mission of Mini Rugby to promote:
– Fun & Participation
– Team Work
– Healthy Active Lifestyle
– Develop athleticism through the joy of rugby
Three age groups are:
– Active Start ages 3-6: Children learn FUNdamental movements through fun and games
– FUNdamentals “Kick off to Rugby” ages 6-9: Children will develop FUNdamental movement skills.
– Learning to Train “Develop the Basics” ages 9-13: Children will enhance and develop ABCs of athleticism and core rugby skills.
Practices are held at South Shore School field Tuesday and Thursdays (youngest age group will only practice for 1 hour on Thursdays). Games will be organized with Regina & Moose Jaw Mini Rugby clubs.
