The Town has been actively monitoring the conditions of the road surface on 8th Street East & 5th Avenue. Recent weather events did require the Town to close some sections of roads for public safety reasons. In the interim, the Town has been working on solutions for opening these street sections to vehicular traffic. The interim solution will include the introduction of rig mats within certain sections of 8th Street East & 5th Avenue. The plan was to advance with this work prior to the Easter weekend however weather conditions have required us to adjust plans and defer the installation of rig mats until conditions permit. Conditional on the weather forecast, this work will be carried out during the week of April 2nd to 6th. In the interim, colder temperatures should permit 5thAvenue to be opened to all traffic as of 8:00am Friday March 29th as well as 8th Street East between 5th Avenue & 7th Avenue. A short portion of 8th Street East south of 4th Avenue will be opened permitting access to the permanent residents on that section of 8th Street East.
PWUD will be monitoring conditions daily. Should conditions dictate, PWUD may be required for public safety reasons to close some or all of these road sections.
The Town appreciates the cooperation and patience of the community. Please contact the Town Office at 306-729-2202 if required.
