Regina Beach

Regina Beach is located on Highway 54, close to where Highway 11 intersects with the Qu’Appelle Valley. As Regina Beach rests on the shores of the south end of Last Mountain Lake, it becomes an active lakeside resort town in summer. Regina Beach is a neighbouring community with Buena Vista, Kinookimaw and Lumsden Beach, which together make up the South Shore Community located along the south shore of Last Mountain Lake.

When it comes to summer road trips, sometimes there’s no better option than a beach town – especially ones that sit just ½ hour from the city of Regina. So hit the road & check out this thriving small town with big offerings.

Making people feel welcome is one of the many things that we do best. Perhaps it’s our sense of place that sets our community apart. Maybe it’s the deep connection to our history while celebrating our lives & stories. Maybe it’s the energy in our creative & entrepreneurial spirit, our little quirks, or the way we take care of each other when we need it the most.

So What Does Regina Beach Have to Offer?

One of southern Saskatchewan’s most popular beaches, Regina Beach Provincial Recreation Site, owned & operated by Sask Parks, offers a beautiful beach area, playground, picnic area, beach volleyball court, boat launch, modern washroom & fish cleaning facility. Working to make the shoreline more accessible for those with disabilities, we celebrated the recent addition of a beach mat & floating wheelchair, thanks to generous donations from an Accessibility Committee formed by residents of Regina Beach.

Regina Beach obviously has a beach and all, but you can also make a day out of your visit by exploring the small shops & businesses. A bustling downtown with everything you need within walking distance…..restaurants, specialty shops, ice cream shops, bakery, hardware store, lumbar yard, grocery store, liquor store, service stations, hair salons, a pharmacy, health clinic & much more! You will soon discover that you will never go hungry, & by the way, don’t forget to visit the famous Blue Bird Café. To see what local artists & producers have to offer, the weekly Farmer’s Markets are the place to shop in the summer. Check out the horse riding stables and go carts. Stay entertained on the deck of the Waterfront Bar & Grill or Yacht club, all while enjoying good food & views of the lake. We have two churches that provide for the spiritual needs of residents. An excellent school with passionate educators, including Lumsden High School which serves our grades 9-12. We have wonderful, caring and professional child-care providers, & a great preschool. To further ensure the safety of our area, RCMP, first responders & a well-trained volunteer fire department are always on call.

Sprawling natural landscapes, picturesque scenery & rich history…we have tons of beautiful backdrops to snap the perfect photo. Whether you’re looking to take family photos or the perfect selfie, there are lots of places to get out & explore the community. Relax your feet in the water & snap that perfect photo of a sunrise or sunset over the lake. If you prefer a darker night sky, you can enjoy a peaceful evening underneath a blanket of stars & maybe even catch some northern lights. The pier’s look-out tower is a unique feature that gives you the best view in town (and is also the prefect spot to enjoy bird watching or an evening walk, finished with an ice cream cone and the beautiful water views).

The lake is calling your name!

Whether dipping your toes in the water or trying your hand at catching supper, you can enjoy the opportunities that come with living or visiting the lake. In the summer, boaters & watercraft enthusiasts come out to play. Boats of all kinds, kayaks, paddle boards, canoes & jet skis can all be seen grazing our waterways. Rent a pontoon boat, paddle board, water toys or enjoy some family fun on the water park. Fishing is also a popular activity, from perch to walleye….spin fishing to ice fishing. There’s even an outfitter that can help you with accommodations & fishing. Two big fishing tournaments to watch for include the Lions Walleye Classic & the Family Fun Ice Fishing derby.

Regina Beach remains a bustling beach town in the summer months, but also gives off the quaint feel of a charming fishing village in the winter. You can head for a skate or enjoy a hockey game at the outdoor rink. Give skating on the lake a try with the skating loop. Head out for some snowshoeing, skiing or snowmobiling on one of the groomed trails. Let one of the outfitters help you experience the hard water with ice fishing shack rentals. A brisk walk along the lake (bundled up of course!) is another great way to get fresh air.

Besides being a great place to raise a family, Regina Beach is certainly known as a recreation lover’s dream, & this community certainly loves its recreation on & offshore, & boasts an abundance of arts, culture & recreational programs with numerous organizations & clubs hosting major events within the Town. Regina Beach is fortunate to have so many non-profits, volunteer organizations & advocacy groups working to support those in the community. There are many ways to get involved. Entering a team in a fundraiser, volunteering at an event, joining a board or donating to a cause are all ways to join in & be part of something good. We invite you to become familiar with the services offered & get to know the people who work hard, often unseen, to serve the community.

Whether your tastes lean towards cultural performances, sporting events, or anything in between, we have something for you. If you want an outdoor movie or outdoor concert, we have those. A beer garden or a golf tournament on the beautiful 9-hole golf course? We have that too! A Leisure Time club provides opportunities for seniors to come together, socialize & participate in a variety of activities such as crib, pool, indoor curling, line dancing, exercising & much more. The community also works together on age-friendly strategies, supporting inclusive & accessibility for all ages now & for generations to come. A joint use recreation centre (school gym) where South Shore Parks & Recreation offers an abundance of programming. For students, there are many activities through sports, music, art & culture, both in the school & through the community whether it be joining a basketball team, gymnastics or Leo club, the possibilities are endless. Summertime is when many local & visiting kids are heading to swimming lessons in the lake or off to camp – either day camps like Sport & Art Camp (SPART) offered through Parks & Rec, or overnight camps like Lumsden Beach Camp….which is only a short drive. The Last Mountain Lake Culture Centre is the artistic & cultural hub, which boasts incredibly talented artisans & performers, art gallery, classes, workshops, concerts & more. Regina Beach is the place to be leading up to & enjoying Canada Day – known for its annual Canada day events which includes a community favourite; the Canada Day parade, where thousands of people line Centre Street. Or take part in a chili challenge, Fowl Supper, a pier concert or the annual Lake Swim – a tradition since the 1920s. You can enjoy lengthy hikes and bike rides on the several kilometers of trail along the lakeshore, head to the park to visit the pickleball/basketball courts, playground, ball diamond & picnic areas; or some disc golf at our adjacent neighbour, Buena Vista’s new course. No matter your taste, we’ve got you covered.

Is it possible to feel at home in a place you have never lived? Absolutely, if that place is Regina Beach…..so if you’re tired of the city pace & ready for a breath of fresh air, consider visiting or making Regina Beach your next weekend getaway.
