Time Capsule Ceremony

The Communications Committee added a unique endeavour to the 100th year celebrations by honouring Regina Beach residents & celebrating their legacy through a commemorative time capsule. Residents, including students at South Shore School were invited to create a submission.

We would like to express our gratitude for everyone’s participation, including the staff & students who participated. We would also like to thank the Last Mountain Lake Culture Centre & Sask Cultures for involving us in the Culture Days celebration & for their contribution, & to the Communications Committee for initiating the project (Sandi Metz, Jared Rommens, Victoria MacDonald, Dave Willfong, Melissa Kobayashi & Stephanie Caswell).

In the years to come when this capsule is re-opened it will be a reminder of where we are, the adversities we faced, & how much we have grown. Our future selves will reflect on the moment in this pandemic as just a snippet of time. But it will be our underlying perseverance & fortitude that will highlight the conversations by those who open the capsule in 2046.

Some would say that the past years have created difficulties that even made the world stop. However, the world did not stop. Rather, we learned to adapt & overcome adversities. We, as the Town, modified services & celebrations to ensure the safety of the community & continued to drive the community forward. 2020/2021 are not years to forget, but years to remember. We have persevered & have had the strength & resolve to overcome any obstacle. One of the things that make us special as a community is our willingness to come together for any challenge that we face...and we’ve certainly faced many challenges over the past couple years. This time capsule gives us something to look forward to. In 25 years when we open it, there will be a lot of reflection. The time capsule will remind residents to keep looking forward to the future, while continuing to embrace the past.

Let’s work together to continue to honour our past, respect our present & commit to making our future great!

Regina Beach is a great community & we have a lot to be proud of!
